Prof. Adarkwa stated further that as a result of the capital intensive nature of modern equipment, the University has had to phase the refurbishment of various laboratories, workshop and other infrastructure. He also underscored the significance of conference rooms to the organizations of meetings at the committee, department and faculty levels and was very grateful to the three alumni for coming to the aid of the faculty.
The three Alumni Opoku Mensah, Bandoh Appiagyei and Yaw Afranie who are Chief Executive officers of Bandy, Rock and Lansah Chemists respectively, voluntarily refurbished the faculty’s conference room at an undisclosed cost as a way of giving back to their alma mater. The three Alumni presented the keys of the conference room to the faculty and hoped their other colleague pharmacists would also help lift the image of KNUST.
Again, they pleaded with the faculty to take good care of the facility.
The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof. Peter Donkor applauded Mr. Opoku Mensah, Bandoh Appiagyei and Yaw Afranie for their kind gesture. He urged all those who have benefited from the college to also support the college.
The Provost said although the three alumni did not want the public to know of their kind gesture, the University decided to honour them publicly.
A representative from the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, PSGH, Dennis Sena was full of praise for the three alumni. He also noted that the PSGH has been rendering assistance to the faculty and has donated five new computers to the college.
